Diogenes Eleftherios Venizelos (Sinopian: Διογένης Ἐλευθέριος Βενιζέλος, born 7 October 1952) is the 185th and current Doge of Sinope, incumbent since 7 May 2001. For sixteen years Diogenes served as an officer in the YAK, rising to the rank of Antisyntagmatarchis (Ανχης) before he retired to enter politics in Braavos as part of his family in 1991. He was chosen in 1996 as Councillor to the Doge and joined Doge Nicomachus II's administration where he rose quickly, becoming the foreign affairs adviser until Nicomachus II died in early 2001. He was then elected Doge by the Republic and took office on 7 may 2001.
