Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Rashid (Kabier: عبد الله الثاني بن الحسين‎; born 30 January 1962) is the reigning King of Abbasid. He ascended the throne on 17 November 2013 upon the abdication of his father King Zayed II. King Hamdan is a member of the Bani Yousef family, which extends throughout the Kabier Peninsula.

Early life

Sheikh Hamdan is one of King Zayed II 12 children and his first son. His mother is Sheikha Yasmin al-Nabul, the second wife of King Zayed II. Hamdan was born on 14 November 1982, while the Al Rashid Royal Family was in exile in Okaiken, following a coup let by his uncle, Faisal.

Hamdan began his schooling in Okashi, and later attended the Waseda University, where he studied politics. Prior to becoming King of Abbasid, Hamdan served in the Royal Abbasidi Air Force for two years, before ending his service in 2009.
